摘要：

This is a course on scientific computing with emphasis to modeling and simulation.  Students will be taught classical algorithms to solve problems by modeling and programming in MATLAB. Topics will be: Computer Arithmetic, Solution of Ordinary Differential Equations,

problems in Linear Algebra and Vector Geometry, Least Squares and Singular Value Decomposition, Nonlinear Problems.

授课人简介：

Walter Gander 教授是瑞士苏黎世联邦理工大学计算机科学系荣休教授。他自1987年起在 ETH Zurich 计算机科学系任教，并于1991年晋升为正教授。他参与了 ETH 计算机科学系的早期建设工作。曾于1989至1997年担任科学计算研究所所长，1990至1992年担任计算机科学系系主任，1997至2001年担任系主任及教学主管。1989 年至 1991 年，他担任瑞士国家超级计算机评估委员会主席，成功促成了瑞士国家超级计算中心在曼诺的建立及首台国家级超级计算机的引入。他的研究方向包括科学计算、数值线性代数与并行计算，在相关领域发表论文 70 余篇，并出版专著 7 部。2002 年，他被选为巴伐利亚科娱乐城通讯院士，2007年当选为瑞士工程科娱乐城院士。
